Hold Tight | Lemuel Ayudtud

When you live your life in such a way that trusts Who God is, you will live with such assurance—a confidence—knowing that God is:

  1. For you

  2. With you

  3. Present and protective

  4. Planning a great ending for whatever He has begun.

God is able to finish what He sets out to do. It’s impossible for God to be deterred from completing His work. He has a plan for the action He’s taken and He will accomplish that plan. Though probably 99.9% of how He does it and why, you and I will never fully understand; yet whatever God has begun in us He will complete.

Our acceptance of the sovereignty of God over everything is of great value for us when God is doing His thing. Since we won’t fully comprehend even if He explained it to us, the best thing is to trust in His goodness and desire for us. This faith in Who God is will help you take on any challenge without fear. Knowing that the thoughts He thinks of us are good and not of evil, and that He has an expected end for us, then we know all things will turn out good.

Yes, we can boldly say, that everything and anything we have gone through or we will go through, God’s got a plan for it. Whether things blow up in our face or blow up beyond our imagination, it is for our good and our betterment. The ugly, the lonely, the hurting, the miserable, the dark times, and everything in between or beyond, God is working it all out for our good. Living life with this mindset will set you free from ungodly fears. That’s a life lived in confidence!

Think about it: how can you not be confident when you embrace the fact that everything God has in His disposal or control He’s using for you? How can you not live in confidence when you accept that what He’s planning will end up for your good and not evil? Though His ways and thoughts are soooo far from your own way of thinking, the fact is whatever it is He’s doing it’s going to end up the way He’s planned it—and that’s the best thing!

Wow! I don’t know about you, but just the thought that the One who sees all, knows all, is in all and over all, and the creator of it all is on my side is exhilarating! Like a being on a rollercoaster ride where you dip to go up, I am confident that the ups and the downs of life all connect together and at the end of the ride I’ll be good! Not only for me, but the next generation coming behind me. My task then is to hold on tight to Him who’s controlling the speed of the ride. Because not only is He controlling the speed of it, He was the one who laid out the path that the rollercoaster, that is my life, is taking!

You can lift your head up even when you want to hide because of shame. You can be confident that He will work it out when you let go of grudges and forgive even if it looks like someone is getting away with what they’ve done. You can be secured that He will bless you when you’re obedient even at the face of what you think to be a bad decision. You know that if you choose to love like He loved, the outcome will ultimately be better than you’re greatest expectation. That though things may hurt for the moment you’re obeying Him, or it doesn’t make any sense to you, or you’re letting go of what is so dear and near to you; He knows the way you take and it’s all going to work. Even the pain will be used to make you better.

Our Scripture reading tells us that we can do all things through Christ. How? Because he’s strengthens us to do it. The reading also tell us that we can boldly say, “The Lord is my helper, what can man do to me?” Meaning, there’s nothing man can or has done to offset the plan of God for my life! You don’t have to fear. You can be courageous! And you should!

Lord, help me to look at my life as though I’m in Your hands. Help to fully trust that the ups and the downs of it are part of the great outcome you have for me. That even in darkness, You are doing something with that season. Help me put my confidence in You. Help me not to trust my feelings, emotions, our my own sense of timing. Lead me to embrace that my end will be greater than my beginning. Help me to trust that through You I can do all things because it is You who will strengthen me. I ask all of these in Your Name, Jesus, amen.
